Corrections Policy
EFFECTIVE 3 AUGUST 2026
Every dataset contains errors, and a comparison site that pretends otherwise is not being honest with you. What matters is how fast an error is found, fixed and admitted to. This page tells you exactly how to report one and what happens next.
How to report something
Fastest route: Report an Error. Or email corrections@truetotalcalculator.com. To let us act without a round-trip, please include:
- The page — a URL or the listing name.
- The figure or text you believe is wrong, as it appears to you.
- What it should be, and where you saw that — a screenshot or a link to the seller’s page is ideal.
- When you saw it, and which country/region you were browsing from — prices and taxes are regional.
What you can report
All of these are worth telling us about. Response targets are working days from receipt:
| WHAT | MEANS | TARGET |
|---|---|---|
| Wrong price | The figure we show does not match what the seller is charging. | Same or next working day |
| Calculation error | A true total, a hidden cost or a resale figure looks mathematically wrong. | 1–2 working days |
| Broken or wrong link | A link 404s, or lands somewhere other than the item described. | 1–2 working days |
| Outdated information | A rule, tax, fee or spec has changed since we recorded it. | 2–5 working days |
| Missing product or option | Something that belongs in a comparison is not there. | Reviewed within 5 working days |
| Typographical error | A typo, a wrong label, a broken sentence. | Next content pass |
| Methodology concern | You think the way we compute something is itself wrong. | Acknowledged in 2 working days; review can take longer |
These are targets we hold ourselves to, not contractual guarantees. TrueTotal is a small operation; if something will take longer, we will tell you rather than go quiet.
What we do with a report
- Acknowledge. You get a reply confirming we have it, normally within one working day.
- Verify against the source. We check the seller or the primary source directly — not just our own record of it. If a source has changed, the fix is usually to re-observe and re-date the input.
- Assess the blast radius. If the cause is systemic — a bad feed, a wrong conversion, a methodology flaw — we look for every other figure it touched rather than patching the one you found.
- Fix and re-date. The corrected figure carries a new observation date and, where relevant, a revised confidence grade.
- Publish and tell you. Material corrections are noted publicly, and we close the loop with you.
How corrections are published
A material correction is one that could change a reader’s decision: a wrong price, a wrong true total, a wrong ranking, a wrong rule. These are recorded with what was wrong, what it is now, and when it changed. Minor fixes — typos, formatting, broken links — are made without a public note.
We do not quietly delete an embarrassing figure. Corrections in the open are the point: a site that only ever appears to have been right is a site that is hiding its edits.
If you are the business concerned
Sellers, operators and manufacturers are welcome to submit corrections about their own products, and we treat them exactly like any other report — verified against the source, fixed if right. Two things a commercial correction cannot do: change a ranking position, or remove an accurate but unflattering cost. Correcting a fact is always welcome; removing a true fact is not a correction. See Editorial Standards.
If you disagree with the outcome
Tell us why — a second look costs us little and we would rather be right than consistent. If you remain unsatisfied, the escalation route is on Help & Complaints. For data-protection matters see the Privacy Policy; for security issues use responsible disclosure rather than this route.
