TRUETOTAL · LEGAL & TRANSPARENCY

User Content Policy

EFFECTIVE 3 AUGUST 2026

This covers anything you send us — a correction, an error report, an accessibility issue, a question or a message. It explains who owns it, what we may do with it, and the rules that apply.

⚠ NOT LEGAL ADVICE
This document was drafted in-house to state TrueTotal’s actual practices plainly. It is not legal advice and has not been reviewed by qualified counsel. Before TrueTotal takes commission or trades, a solicitor qualified in Ireland should review and adapt it.
WHAT TRUETOTAL DOES NOT HAVE — YET
There are currently no public comments, reviews, ratings or forums on TrueTotal. Nothing you send appears publicly with your name on it. This policy is written now so the rules exist before any such feature does — and it will be updated, with a new effective date, before one launches.

What counts as your content

  • Corrections and error reports submitted via Report an Error or email.
  • Accessibility barrier reports and security disclosures.
  • Questions, feedback and complaints sent to any of our addresses.
  • Anything you submit through a future feature that invites contributions.

Ownership

You keep ownership of what you write. Submitting something to us does not transfer your copyright, and we make no claim to it.

The licence you grant us

So that we can actually act on what you send, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use, store, reproduce and adapt your submission for the purpose of operating and improving TrueTotal. In practice that means: reading it, investigating it, fixing the underlying data, and — where relevant — summarising the substance of it in a published correction.

We will not publish your name, email address or identifying details without asking you first. A published correction describes what was wrong and what changed, not who reported it, unless you have asked to be credited.

What you promise when you submit something

  • It is yours to send, or you have permission to send it.
  • It does not infringe anyone’s copyright, trade mark, privacy or other rights.
  • It is accurate to the best of your knowledge — corrections in particular.
  • It is not unlawful, defamatory, abusive, hateful, harassing, obscene or misleading.
  • It contains no malware, exploit payloads or attempts to interfere with the service.
  • You are not submitting it in bad faith to damage or advantage a business.

Personal data — please send as little as possible

Do not include sensitive personal information about yourself or anyone else. We do not need it to fix a price. Anything you do send is handled under our Privacy Policy: kept only as long as needed to deal with your report and to keep a record of the correction, never sold, and never used to build a profile of you.

Moderation and removal

We may decline to act on, or may remove, any submission that breaches these rules — and we may do so without notice where content is unlawful or harmful. We may also decline reports that are abusive, or that are repetitive and vexatious after we have already investigated and explained our conclusion.

Declining to act on a correction is not the same as ignoring it: we will tell you what we found and why we reached a different conclusion. If you disagree, the escalation route is on Help & Complaints.

Withdrawing something you sent

Email privacy@truetotalcalculator.com and we will delete your submission and associated personal data, subject to any record we must keep of a correction that has already been made — the corrected figure stays corrected, but it need not remain linked to you. Your full data rights are in the Privacy Policy.

Businesses submitting content about themselves

Sellers and manufacturers are welcome to correct facts about their own products, and we treat those reports like any other — verified against the source, fixed if right. Two things such a submission can never achieve: moving a ranking position, or removing an accurate but unflattering cost. See Editorial Standards and Corrections Policy.

Rules for any future public feature

If we ever add reviews or comments, these principles will apply from day one: real experiences only; no incentivised, purchased or fabricated reviews, ever; clear labelling of any commercial relationship; a working report-abuse route; and no deletion of criticism merely because it is unwelcome. A review system that can be gamed is worse than none, which is why we have not shipped one lightly.
